Caring for Your Hand-Embroidered ÏMAIMA Garments

Hand-embroidered garments are truly one-of-a-kind, and with the right care, they can last a lifetime. Here are some tips to maintain the quality and beauty of your hand-embroidered ÏMAIMA pieces:

1. Hand Wash Only
Wash your garments by hand in cool water with a mild detergent. Avoid hot water, which can cause embroidery threads to shrink or bleed. You don’t need to wash after every wear—overwashing gradually weakens fibers. For minor spots, try spot cleaning or a gentle steam and air-out instead.

2. Use Gentle Detergents
Avoid harsh detergents or bleach, which can fade or weaken the threads. Choose a mild detergent that is safe for both fabric and embroidery.

3. Follow the Care Label
The temperature on the care label is the maximum your garment can safely handle. To be safe, set your water or iron 10°C below that temperature.

4. Avoid Soaking
Do not soak hand-embroidered garments for long periods, as this can loosen or damage the embroidery threads.

5. Lay Flat to Dry
After washing, gently press out excess water and lay the garment flat to dry. Avoid wringing or twisting, which can tangle or break threads. Limiting dryer use also reduces energy consumption and your carbon footprint—plus, it helps your garments last longer.

6. Iron with Caution
If ironing is necessary, use a low heat setting and cover the embroidery with a pressing cloth. Direct heat can damage delicate threads.

7. Store Carefully
Fold garments neatly and store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Hanging can stretch the fabric and distort the embroidery.

Hand-embroidered garments are more than clothing—they are wearable art. Treat them with care, wash only when necessary, and store them thoughtfully, and they will remain beautiful for years to come.

Happy Caring,
