Women's Day 💕

International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The women's day has been celebrated for well over a century, with the first one in 1911.

The campaign theme for International Women's Day 2022 is #BreakTheBias.

Purple, green and white are the colors of International Women's Day. Purple signifies justice and dignity. Green symbolizes hope. White represents purity. The day belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. Gloria Steinem, world-renowned feminist, journalist and activist once explained "The story of women's struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist, nor to any one organization, but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.”

IMAIMA is a woman-owned fashion brand from Berlin, which is weaving stories inspired by a woman's life, her identity, and her love for culture. Our collections are a combination of modern fashion silhouettes and middle eastern hand craft embroideries. The garments are made of natural fabrics crafted from 100% cotton and are completely re-recyclable. At IMAIMA we relentlessly work towards making innovative designs ensuring zero waste. IMAIMA’s founder and director Bahhareh is deeply invested in the idea that empowered women lead to an empowered legacy. What fascinates and inspires her are the stories which are untold, they unfold and unravel in IMAIMA’s designer outfits. As a preteen, Bahhareh’s muse was her father’s petite fashion store in Berlin, where she took great delight in assisting her father.

This Womens’ Day is special for IMAIMA in many ways, we interacted with brands who have similar ideology as we do and act as an inspiration for all, their stories can inspire people across the globe and we are happy to share some insights with you all.

We do love to create but when and how do we decide how to go ahead with it, one of the brands we interviewed said: “I love to create things and sharing my creations required an outlet. When I was confident my designs were also liked by others, there was no stopping!” - @maddercutchandco

Sustainability is a lifestyle and it is important to us that we interact with other brands who inspire us to do better every day. @maren_jewellery had this to say in their interview: “I had been intensively involved with sustainability and a vegan lifestyle for several years. And at the same time, I worked day after day in an industry that almost contradicted my inner progress. They use gold from mines that cast holes in the earth and people's lives.”

This Womens’ Day, we have a line-up of women-owned businesses who shared their stories with us. Watch this space for more.
